About the job

We are looking for a Senior Character Technical Artist to help us push the boundaries of digital human realism and physical accuracy in real-time fashion try-ons. You will lead rigging, deformation, and character system development, working closely with our ML and 3D teams to bring lifelike digital avatars to life at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high-fidelity character rigs with anatomically accurate deformation systems.

  • Develop advanced skinning, blend shape, and pose-based deformation techniques for digital humans.

  • Build custom tooling and automation pipelines for rigging and character setup in real-time environments.

  • Integrate character rigs into Unreal Engine pipelines, ensuring seamless runtime performance and visual quality.

  • Collaborate with machine learning and simulation teams to refine data-driven deformation workflows.

  • Maintain efficient asset pipelines, supporting high-throughput production of avatar variations.

  • Prototype and deploy runtime customisation systems for multi-character avatar environments.

Requirements:

  • Strong foundation in human anatomy, body morphology, and deformation techniques.

  • Expert knowledge of rigging workflows, including topological principles, skinning, and weight painting.

  • Deep experience with Unreal Engine, especially in pose-based deformation, blend shapes, and animation integration.

  • Proficiency in Python scripting (ideally in Blender) for tool creation and pipeline automation.

  • Solid grasp of mathematics for data-driven workflows such Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and RBF kernels.

  • Familiarity with animation blending, state machines, and runtime retargeting in real-time engines.

  • Ability to design scalable custom authoring tools for rigging and deformation setup.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with machine learning models in 3D graphics or avatar contexts.

  • Understanding of data pipelines for morph target generation or deformation refinement.

  • Exposure to multi-character avatar systems or runtime customisation techniques.

  • Familiarity with cloth or soft-body simulation pipelines is a plus.
